The Timbers, 5 Star Lodging in Mammoth Lakes
The Timbers at Sierra Star were the first 5 star homes to be built on the Sierra Star golf course. They are walking distance from the clubhouse and many have views of the course, the water features or the surrounding forest. There are only a few that are rentals, the remainder are occupied year round. Each home is individually decorated but the floor plans are all similar. Location is everything, and The Timbers are just 2 minutes to the ski slopes either by car or bus, and on a nice day can easily be walked. The village is about 5 minutes away, and it is amazingly close when you want to take a stroll.
Inside the homes, the floor plan represents an open concept with 20 foot high ceilings, lofts that overlook the great room, large windows that capture the sun and a kitchen that is designed for gathering. Center islands, granite counters, stainless steel appliances set in rock, stone and hardwoods are layed out to give the best flow and the floors throughout the entire house are heated. Interior furnishings are at the owner's discretion, but most with a modern mountain flair. Whether you like the more traditional style or like a mountain lodge at Glacier National Park, these are comfortable and large. The bedrooms are good sized, there are plenty of bathrooms, and those units that have dens or lofts set them up for family fun nights with pool tables or ping pong tables. The decks are likely to have a nice BBQ and private spa. You'll want to happy hour in the spa, then have your driver take you to one of the finer restaurants for a relaxed dinner. Now this is vacationing!
As part of the Sierra Star community, The Timbers, Gray Bear and Stonegate are the only houses allowed by the town of Mammoth to be vacation rentals. Everything else is a ski "condo". And of the three, these homes are closest to the slopes. They can sleep 10-12 people depending on size and bed layout, and because of the square footage 2600 -3200sq ft., are very roomy. Like many of our high end luxury vacation rentals, these homes do not appear online. You must call to reserve one. In summer, you'll walk to the golf course and in winter you'll be near the slopes.
